In 2008, Their Royal Highnesses the Princes of Asturias inaugurated the new Paintings and Prints Rooms of the Bullring of the Real Maestranza de Caballería of Seville.

To illustrate what a visit to the Real Plaza de Toros de la Maestranza means, few testimonies are more eloquent than the words of architect Rafael Moneo, excerpted from the XXIX Taurine Pregón of which he is the author, invited by the Real Maestranza de Caballería of Seville.

"The Maestranza is, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful monuments of the city (...) one of those exempt buildings, capable of facing the passage of time alone and making Seville what it is. Is there a more beautiful site than that of the Maestranza?

Peering over the river, the Maestranza has seen the waters of the Guadalquivir flow without feeling the passage of time. And if the Giralda unites cultures, the Maestranza reminds us that there is always room for the brave, that our destiny is not written.

That the Maestranza is and has been the bullring par excellence, the one that best represents what the Fiesta is capable of giving, is something that no one doubts (...) it was always a work of architecture with its own life.
